Les chemins de l’amour - Songs By Duparc, Ravel, Poulenc & Satie

Released

Norman excels in the set of four songs by Henri Duparc that open this album. Her sound, seemingly powerful and agile in any register, matches their stormy shifts of mood and explosions of feeling. Duparc’s style favors sudden melodic climaxes, often within the first moments of a song, and Norman’s performances of them are remarkably vivid. The French-modernist selections from Ravel and company that complete the album offer satisfying doses of eccentricity and lyricism.
