While UK rock acts of the late 80s into the 90s were frequently known for a plethora of singles and EPs beyond their albums, Catherine Wheel were one of the most incredibly productive on that front; a full rarities collection in the end could have filled up at least three CDs alone. Like Cats and Dogs serves as a redaction of that range but it’s a very well chosen one with songs like “Girl Stand Still,” not to mention nodding to their deeper roots not merely with a cover of Rush’s “Spirit of Radio” but Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here,” a stellar showcase for Rob Dickinson’s vocal range.
