This 2018 release was a sharp left turn from Numbers: the Glasgow label is traditionally a home for dancefloor belters of all flavours, but this marked a move into close listening music. This 28-minute mini album is “born from an idle summer travelling between Glasgow and the east coast of Scotland,” and built around field recordings and a distinct artistic aesthetic of mist, contemplation, industrial and natural landscapes. Its shifts are microscopic but go deep, and in a short space it can go from dreamy bliss to crunching discomfort. It works on multiple levels — as a meditation on place and change, but also as a piece of entirely abstract sound art.
