Swedish duo Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle took the pop confections of (mid-period) ABBA into the late eighties with this lightweight collection of electro-rock delights. Their second album covers such heady topics as women that look good and looking good as a woman. It’s easy to laugh at this in the abstract — until you listen to it and realize how impeccably they crafted these songs. “Dressed for Success,” “The Look,” and “Dangerous” bring their bright synthesizer hooks to the Eurovision stage, and if you’re looking for big ballads, “Listen to Your Heart” probably made 80s Heart jealous. Their next album got the title Joyride, but this was one as well.
