Love And Glitter, Hot Days And Muzik

Released

An album that feels both of its time and prophetic at the same time. Happy hardcore, twee, and punk influences (Joey Ramone even makes an appearance!) are all smashed together in a way that you’d expect at least one album would sound around the turn of the millennium, yet nothing else resembled it then. This permutation of genre-bending isn’t necessarily shocking in a post-100 gecs world, but hearing this in 2000 must have felt like a neon-lit party bus mowing you over at high speed. With these sounds coming back into fashion and the cover—complete with Powerpuff Girls parody typeface and an anime aesthetic that wouldn’t look out of place on your average SoundCloud HexD release—it’s no surprise that Helen Love’s picked up a second wind online.
