Lubbock (On Everything)

Released

True to its name, Lubbock (On Everything) is a sprawling double album (is there any other kind?) that feels all-encompassing of The Human Experience, though Terry Allen might find that assessment goofy at best. The 21 songs each carry a world of their own, breezing through country, cabaret, southern rock, and chamber music. Beautiful waitresses navigate the just-passing-through loners, trucks full of art tip over and catch on fire, murderers hop trains, the high school football star takes a heel turn. These are small stories given a widescreen treatment, each allowing you to take in the sounds, sights, and smells of Allen’s universe of wry empathetic songcraft.
