Ma délire - Songs of love, lost & found cover

Ma délire - Songs of love, lost & found

Released

Canadian guitarist revives a variety of folk songs in both French and English, adding music or words when needed. The mood is noble and emotionally grave, which is a by-product of using older sources; the distance between the singer and the song allows dignity and the benefit of the doubt to fill in the blanks. Gendron has a low tenor voice and works in a modified post-Fahey fingerpicking style, and has a nice hairy electric sprawl sometimes. This is that 3 PM, what-will-I-do-now?, rainy day kind of music, and there is nary a miss here. Guitar, voice, and little else.
