A masked visitor from the stars bringing only the freshest funk, journeyman musician Michael Andre Lewis (whose resume included Rufus, Earth Wind and Fire, and Frank Zappa) made several forays into disco as forward-thinking as his proto-Daft Punk helmet. His first contains his most successful message, the eight-minute space synthesized “Solar Flight (Opus I),” a prog-influenced dancefloor filler that shows off his considerable chops and programming skills. It’s not the only highlight here. His electrified take on “Money (That’s What I Want)” and the superconducted filth of “Dirty Love” show the future reflected on his chrome dome.
