Mask Talk

Released

The project of Detlef Weinrich of German post-rock/electronica group Kreidler, Tolouse Low Trax is removed from its host outfit by a matter of degrees – they share an interest in the meeting place of pop and electronics, but Weinrich’s solo debut, Mask Talk, highlights the club in its equations. Not too heavily, though, as his productions tend to move at a pace that’s a little closer to sluggish than expected; in a good way, mind you, as this ratcheting down of the tempo means everything can swoon. The air in the room is a bit fuggy and sticky, the dancers are moving differently, and the music seesaws between blearily wasted and slyly playful. Like a dosed army of toy instrument players, Mask Talk moves differently.
