Masters of the Universe (Pulp On Fire 1985-86)

Released

Various Pulp rarities collections have made the rounds over time, but this one serves a more focused purpose, collecting the various mid-1980s singles and B-sides the band released on Fire around the time of the Freaks album. The general sense of anomie and sometimes barely disguised despair runs rampant from that album but in slightly different forms at points - the bluntness of “Little Girl (With the Blue Eyes)” is one thing, but a song like “Dogs Are Everywhere,” redone as a B-side in their 1990s years, has a certain wistfulness hidden among the darker shades of the arrangement.
