Mozart: Piano Concertos K. 271, 453, 466 - Adagio and Fugue K. 546

Released

This second set of Mozart collaborations between pianist Keith Jarrett and conductor Dennis Russell Davies, released in 1999, shows their dynamism in even finer form. As if to heighten the excitement contained herein, the program starts with the Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 20 in D Minor, a generally somber affair that also sports the finest concluding movement of either collection. Concertos No. 17 and 9 make a joyful noise, the latter an especially painterly example of the Classical style. The Adagio and Fugue in C Minor closes out on a Baroque-leaning note.
