Recordings of Mozart’s piano music are a dime a dozen, but recordings of Mozart by Angela Hewitt are worth their weight in gold — not just because of her undisputed technique and musicological insight, but also because of the palpable (and clearly audible) affection she holds for this repertoire. This two-disc set is the first installment in what is planned as a cycle of recordings that will cover all of Mozart’s piano sonatas, and Hewitt is off to a beautiful start.
