Music of the Gothic Era cover
Released

An influential compendium of early polyphony from 1100-1400. Noteworthy are the rippling forcefield of voices in the four-voice organum “Sederunt Principes” and the boisterous motet “Alle, Psallite Cum Luya.” In the beef-prone culture of early music, the album came under some fire for its inclusion of anachronistic instruments. The musicality of the performances, however, is more rarely questioned.
