No Reino Dos Afetos

Released

From Maceió, on the east coast of Brazil, Bruno Berle is a singer songwriter with a particularly feather-light take on the pop music of his home. That’s not a negative in any way – it’s simply that many of the songs on No Reino Dos Afetos are so gently lit and drifty that sometimes they feel like they could disperse off into the ether. Berle’s songs are most beautiful when his breathy, unassuming voice matches up with guitar that knits together bossa progressions with quiet insistence – see the lovely “O Nome De Meu Amor.” A few songs are produced by Batata Boy, and take on a muted R&B lilt, clicking electronic rhythms shuffling under Berle’s wistful sigh. Lovely stuff.
