Italian pianist Stefano Bollani and Brazilian bandolim (10-string mandolin) virtuoso Hamilton de Holanda in a live concert recording from 2012. Building on a history of frequent collaboration, the duo combines folk, jazz, ragtime, and other influences into a program of dazzling fervor. Original pieces hold their own against those of giants like Astor Piazzolla and Antonio Carlos Jobim, along with a smattering of gems from Italy and Brazil, each jolted into renewal by the electricity of these two performers. Even those who normally shy away from live recordings will get caught up in the moment, laughter and all.
