Pefkin is Gayle Brogan, a Scottish practitioner of “dronefolk” that depends on violin and voice and spectral bits of digital paint. Here, she intones and incants and keeps it beautifully unreal for three tracks. Her colleague, French artist Roxane Métayer, works with violin in an elegant and surgical way, creating clusters of lines that move from gesture to coordinated harmony and then atomize back into fragments. There are light electronic interventions here, but not many. Fierce, thoughtful stuff.
