Portrait d'un Glacier
Released
The icy terrain of Tré-la-Tête glacier provides the setting for Lionel Marchetti’s brief yet unforgettable journey through France’s Mont Blanc massif. The ensuing mélange of splashing stones, human voices, and post-produced motifs encroaches on our aural periphery with a mounting sense of foreboding. Like a horror film in which the protagonists keep ending up where they started, there seems to be no escape from the cold until hymnal music overtakes the foreground, resolving into the hum of a plane overhead. Whether or not our trekkers will be noticed in a sea of white is left to the imagination.
