Pressure Points

On this album you can see John Brown’s Body executing its final pivot from a straight-ahead roots-and-culture reggae band led by founder Kevin Kinsella to a more progressive and experimental group led by singer/songwriter Eliot Martin. The latter’s songs outnumber the former’s, and pack the biggest punch: most notable here is “What We Gonna Do?,” a powerfully churning political anthem that moves with the ponderous and unstoppable power of a charging elephant, but “Resonate” and “Follow into Shadow” would become major features of their live show as well.
