It’s no secret that Dave Grohl possesses the sweetest speed dial this side of Satan, but his Probot project still dropped jaws when it hit. Not only did he enlist a veritable league of underground legends to rock the mic (Tom G. Warrior, Lee Dorrian, Max Cavalera, King Diamond), it turned out that – unshackled from the chains of radio rock – he could forge metal with the best of them. “Centuries of Sin” was the most venomous thing Cronos was involved in since the mid-80s, “Shake Your Blood (featuring Lemmy)” captured that Motorhead magic, and “The Emerald Law” gave Scott “Wino” Weinrich a new obsession. Sure, it’s a self-indulgent side project, but Grohl invites his listeners to dig in.
