Real to Real Cacophony

Before Jim Kerr discovered his road to Valhalla voice, Simple Minds was one interesting ass rhythm band. Sort of between OMD’s chilly echoboy and Spandau Ballet’s banker funk, Simple Minds here were still doing a bit of a post-ska upstroke and a little U2 chiming in between their bass and keyboard patterns, which were genuinely rugged. “Changeling” is more than a little chunk of the LCD Soundsystem vibe, that ice cold white funk.
