Right Now!

Released

Pussy Galore’s early EPs aimed to offend and piss off the NYC music scene, and they were so successful at it that by the time their first full-length came out, they had few defenders. Heard out of its late ’80s context, Right Now! reveals them as sharp, self-aware, and unexpectedly skilled musicians. “Alright” delivers headbanging punk energy; “Wretch” is head-warping psychedelic sludge; “New Breed” and “Pig Sweat” are face-slashing rockabilly noise-punk. Their decision to eschew bass and use a car’s gas tank as a snare drum gives the music a biting-on-tinfoil edge. The apparent half-assedness is entirely put on; Pussy Galore knew exactly what they were doing at all times.
