Scott Walker began his full length solo career in a position of command thanks to the Walker Brothers’ success in England, proceeding to continue it there with the 1967 smash hit Scott, which became the building block for the deep cult of listeners to follow over the decades. Mixing his rich, skilled voice with dramatic orchestrations and a sense of ambient presence, its combination of his originals such as “Montague Terrace in Blue” and striking covers, most notably of Jacques Brel, resulted in a fusion that bridged easy listening and moody rock drama.
