Shout It Out

Released

Patrice Rushen’s third album is many of her fans’ favourite and certainly is a peak of musical hybridity, perfectly mixing precision R’nB/street funk with jazz into one of the 70s best jazz-funk albums. You get a mix of vocal and instrumental jazz-funk and fusion tracks featuring jazz chord changes and soloing, pristine, rich ornate arrangements, tight in-the-pocket playing and some glorious singing from Rushen too. Impressive across a range of tempos and moods, Shout It Out is a great example of an accomplished jazz-funk album.
