One of those bands that unfortunately never quite lived up to their potential, In Solitude nonetheless left us with three intriguing documents. Sister, their premature swansong, shows just what could have been. Metamorphosing from a band that really loved Mercyful Fate into a band that really loved Mercyful Fate and death rock, this masterpiece of modern melodic gloom injects passionate blood into the cold occult. The one-two punch of “Pallid Hands” and “Lavender” could raise Nosferatu from his grave.
