Slave to the Rhythm

Released

The same year she got herself a view to a kill (and one year after she destroyed Conan), Grace Jones delivered a dance opera worthy of her outsized image. Buggles/Yes-man Trevor Horn produced with the novel idea of creating a biographical album out of extremely different interpretations of one song. Not exactly a remix album but close! Thankfully, it’s a great song. Ranging from gentle light-electronic mixes to full-blown floor-fillers, the various iterations of “Slave to the Rhythm” showcase both Horn’s board wizardry and Jones’s unmatched charisma.
