So This Is Goodbye

There was a hot minute when sad disco boys were going to save everyone and that group seemed to be a trifecta of Postal Service, LCD Soundsystem and Junior Boys. In many estimates, the JBs had the goods above everyone. Their drum sounds are clean and compelling and Jeremy Greenspan’s vocals were able to channel the best of Dave Gahan as well as a host of unknown disco backup singers. In their sweetest spot, it was that deep city melancholy that New Order and Depeche Mode created, and which in turn created a half dozen sounds. This album absolutely stands next to an emotional disco album like Violator, if you are ok with slightly more R&B and slightly less Ingmar Bergman.
