Starfish

Released

Topping Heyday may have been a tall order, but the Church reconvened after a couple of years of solo projects with a new label in Arista and accompanying LA studio budget and polish from Waddy Wachtel and Greg Ladanyi, which led to artistic clashes Steve Kilbey wasn’t holding back from discussing in later years. Even so, Starfish was their full US breakthrough thanks to the haunting “Under the Milky Way,” while “Reptile,” the Marty Willson-Piper sung “Spark” and other strong songs like “Blood Money,” “Antenna” and “Destination” all hit incredibly well.
