Symphony or Damn

Terence Trent D’Arby never recaptured the sales or hits of his debut album, but his creativity never wavered. Symphony or Damn kicked off with the guitar pop of “She Kissed Me,” ended on the tender piano ballad “Let Her Down Easy” (detailing a virgin’s first tryst), and touched on plenty more over the 13 tracks of funk, rock and soul in-between. “Do You Love Me Like You Say?” filtered James Brown through the funky sieve of TTD’s own imagination. “Seasons” came across more heartfelt than even what Prince had on offer in 1993. Arguably D’Arby’s greatest album.
