Syreeta

MoWest

This Stevie Wonder produced debut from Syreeta is one of Motown’s lesser-known soul treasures. Stevie’s lead vocals grace ‘To Know You Is To Love You’, a six-minute dark-soul epic that reaches ecstatic heights before descending into a superb conga and bass coda, and the distinctive synths, keys and clav combo that make up Syreeta’s sublime take on his ‘I Love Every Little Thing About You’ is clearly Stevie too. Syreeta’s vocals here alternatively creep or take flight, her distinctive voice at times sweet and vulnerable, at other times confident and soaring. Sophisticated soul of the highest quality.
