The Aeroplane Flies High
Released
A compilation in the vein of Pisces Iscariot, The Aeroplane Flies High was a full box set drawing together most of the singles from the Mellon Collie era of the Smashing Pumpkins, the exception being a remix single for “1979.” Otherwise, it included not only the many B-sides from that album’s singles — including one of their secret best numbers, “Set the Ray to Jerry,” and the chaotic “Pastichio Medley” pointing towards even more songs in the vault — but a clutch of engaging if not deathless cover versions from bands like the Cars, the Cure, Blondie, Alice Cooper and Missing Persons.
