The Edge Of Hell

Released

One of the most howlingly bizarre artifacts to come out of the fertile “rock band goes to secluded place to record and gets attacked by monsters” horror movie subgenre, Rock ‘n’ Roll Nightmare (aka The Edge of Hell) was written by and starred Canadian bodybuilder/singer Jon Mikl Thor. The soundtrack (also him) contains exactly the kind of ragingly stupid hair metal you’d expect from a mid-thirties Vancouverite multi-hyphenate. Despite sounding like it was actually recorded in the movie’s barn-based recording studio, songs like the “Lick It Up” knockoff “Live it Up,” thrash-tastic final showdown backing track “The Challenge,” and especially the workout anthem “Energy” make for some fun music to blast out of your van on those long, long country drives.
