The first post-Motown Jacksons album from 1976, recorded at Philadelphia’s Sigma Sound Studios with Gamble & Huff and McFadden & Whitehead on production duties is unsurprisingly pretty high quality. Worth it alone for Michael Jackson’s first published song, the sublime ‘Blues Away,’ you also get their smooth chart-busting ‘Let Me Show You The Way To Go’ and a selection of catchy, dramatically orchestrated songs ranging from gentle soul to chunky mid-decade funky-soul and pure, up-tempo disco, all put together in a highly accessible radio-friendly manner that clearly had an eye on the pop charts.
