The second of the discs expanding on the original Associates Radio One collection, The Radio One Sessions, Vol. 2 covers the years in the run-up to Perhaps, as Billy Mackenzie and a mix of supporting musicians, mostly consistently keyboardist Howard Hughes (not that one) featured forthcoming songs, revisiting earlier numbers — the first few songs work through some pre-Sulk numbers — and some out and out obscurities. These include a haunting cover of the 1960s classic “The Crying Game” and their first attempt at reworking Blondie’s “Heart Of Glass.”
