Classic, peak Motown-sound album from The Temptations featuring a clutch of 60s soul killers like the bittersweet Girl Why You Want To Make Me Blue, a song in which the melody and lyrics are just wonderfully diametrically opposed, and Ruffin’s career-defining performance on Since I Lost My Baby. Like most mid-60s Motown albums there are a couple of filler tracks included but in ’66 The Temptations and Motown house band The Funk Brothers were at full power and with alternating lead vocals from David Ruffin and Eddie Kendricks both in absolute peak condition and a rare lead vocal from Paul Williams on Don’t Look Back, Temptin’… stands up as one of the best artist albums the label put out in ’66.
