Christmas albums remain one of those things where it looks so easy that everyone can do it, and yet so many of them just disappear into the ether soon after release. Thorn’s own entry increasingly looks like a keeper, her simultaneously cool and conversational voice matched with understated accompaniment on covers ranging from older standards and more recent efforts — Low, Joni Mitchell, Randy Newman among others — to two particularly lovely originals.
