Tiny Waves, Mighty Sea

Released

While the first Future Pilot A.K.A. album, Vs. A Galaxy Of Sound, was a remix/collaboration epic – a double-CD of Sushil Dade crossing swords with a broad community of like-minded folks – on Tiny Waves, Mighty Sea, Dade focused in on his Glasgow crew, with superlative results. There’s an impressive cast here, including members of Belle & Sebastian, The Pastels, The Vaselines, Teenage Fanclub, The Delgados, The Pearlfishers and BMX Bandits, but everyone is in line with Dade’s vision, an oceanic fusing (but not fusion) of Glaswegian guitar pop and Indian devotional music. They weave together effortlessly, the reverb-heavy production setting everything aloft on clouds of pure tone float. It’s a blissful collection of songs, peaking with the ten-minute dreamscape of “Om Namah Shivaya.”
