Transmission Impossible

Billy Mackenzie

2004
One Little Indian

Some time after the release of the posthumous Beyond the Sun album, the Billy Mackenzie estate opted for a new set of archival releases focusing on his 1990s recordings as originally done rather than with overdubs, however lovely in their own right. Transmission Impossible generally follows in Beyond the Sun’s line emphasizing his quieter, more piano-led side, starting with his striking reinterpretation of “Wild Is The Wind,” as well as notable originals like “And This She Knows” and a lovely take on Sparks’s “Never Turn Your Back On Mother Earth.”
