Franck Hueso is no stranger to the dark side — as an engineer/producer, he’s worked with French extreme metal acts like Hacride and Deathspell Omega. As Carpenter Brut, however, he synthesizes those influences with a love for French touch dance bands like Justice and prog acts like Toto. Somehow, those touchstones all collide to create some of the most dance floor-wrecking beats in all the darksynth scene. This compilation of his three early EPs contains his most wave-heavy material, ranging from atmospheric pieces like “Escape from Midwich Valley” to raging self-contained horror flicks like “Roller Mobster” and highlight “Turbo Killer.” One of the few trilogies where every entry rules.
