Unconditional Love In Hi-Fi

Building on their increasing profile, Miesha and the Spanks’s 2023 album draws on sessions recorded both in Canada and the UK, all combined into another burst of brash and catchy as hell garage-punk anchored on Miesha Louie’s roaring guitar and sharp blend of speaking truths to power and sassing it just as much. “So Mad” sums up that blend perfectly, down to her stuttered “chip on my shoulder,” as do earlier singles “I Can’t Wait” and “Dig Me Out,” while the Secwépemc-titled interludes throughout add contextual spoken word and interview snippets.
