On her second album Unearthed, Zanias continues exploring 21st century evolutions of dark electronic/industrial/dance sonics, taking the basics of the form – as the opening “Unfathomed” immediately showcases – and applying her sense of serene control to the proceedings. With the song titles intentionally following an “Un-” model, her compositions range from coolly passionate grooves (the floating pulse of “Unraveled,” the slow burn build of “Undreamt”) to frenetic, uneasier songs like the shuddering title track, while her vocals provide a entrancing center.
