The last Bob Marley and the Wailers album released during the reggae icon’s lifetime is his most spiritual, every bit the Rastafarian revelation that his postmortem merch-machine / frat-favorite stereotype rep can’t quite conceal. The James Brown-at-Tuff Gong “Could You Be Loved” and the acoustic folk classic “Redemption Song” are rightfully venerated, but Marley’s insight and his band’s rhythmic fluidity make it start-to-finish indelible.
