Velvet Tinmine

Recorded
1973-1975
Released

A classic case of enthusiastic collectors creating and retrospectively naming a scene that was never seen as one, Velvet Tinmine, when it first appeared in the early 2000s, codified the idea of ‘junkshop glam,’ failed attempts at terrace-stomping and androgynous rocking out in early to mid 1970s Britain. Cherry picking the best from the dusty corners of forgotten record bins leads to hearing such crazy delights as Iron Virgin’s “Rebels Rule” and Ricky Wilde’s “I Wanna Go To a Disco,” to name just two standouts.
