If Tanith’s dual guitar harmonies sound charmingly old-school, it’s because they came about it the honest way – co-vocalist/guitarist/second guitarist Russ Tippins has been playing with legendary NWOBHM barristers Satan for 40 damned years now. Named after the female lead in Hammer Horror banger The Devil Rides Out (not the Elden Ring NPC), the lyrical content leans towards the fantastical, while the musical content lands squarely in the realm of the fantastic. Folksy hard rockers like “Snow Tiger” and “Olympus by Dawn” fall into the Rainbow/Wishbone Ash/Blue Oyster Cult axis of excellence while second-half highlight “Flame” perfectly captures that moment when the RPG party crests the hill and finds themselves within striking range of their nemesis’s castle at long last. Don’t miss this boat.
