Scott Thompson and Paul Bellini, a Kid In The Hall and a writer for The Kids In The Hall, respectively, have been creative partners for decades. Aside from KITH, their largest body of work comes from their band Mouth Congress, a queer Canadian punk band that, along with Gord Disley, specializes in noisy and hilarious bursts of energy and longing. Captured Tracks has graciously put together a 30 track introduction to the world of heavy breathers, guys named Jim (“I noticed it rhymed with rim”), and guilt of all shapes and sizes. Fidelity is all over the place but the quality of the songwriting is superb, rooted in bruised heartbreak hiding behind a laugh. Dive in, nose first.
