Welcome to the Afterfuture

Released

A sort of post-millennium catharsis where Tricky found pre-millennium tension, MC/poet/producer Mike Ladd channels a frustration over an endlessly deferred utopian tomorrow into an avalanche of noise, rage, bemusement, ambivalence, and sorrow. So sonically untethered from trendiness that it feels unstuck in time, for better (the beats still sound like time travel from an unknown epoch) and worse (the tragic police-violence diptych of “Takes More than 41” / “Feb. 4 ’99 (For All Those Killed by Cops)”).
