Wendy and Lisa cover

Wendy and Lisa

Released

Pianist Lisa Coleman played with Prince since the days of Dirty Mind (1980, to be exact). Her partner, Wendy Melvoin, joined Prince’s camp three years later. It took his disbanding of The Revolution band to push the two into recording their first solo project as a duo, Wendy and Lisa. The same magic present on Revolution-assisted albums like Parade exists here, particularly on “Waterfall” (with an atomic solo by Wendy), the forlorn “The Life,” a buoyant “Honeymoon Express” and more. Their musical marriage should never have been underestimated.
