Wormhole of Time
Trinidadian/Swedish musician Jean-Luis Huhta is a great an advert for cultural hybrid vigour as you could ask for. Better known latterly as Dungeon Acid, the producer has been involved in rave, hardcore punk, noise, hip hop, mainstream funk / dance and more besides — and each step of the way has been a keen advocate for and documenter of the many links running through subculture. This compilation is of his techno tracks from the 90s but the hyper advanced understanding of funk and groove — and especially of texture — would make it very hard to place them in time if you didn’t know. With glorious artwork from Swedish graffiti legend NUG, it’s a perfect demonstration of someone who understands and knows exactly how to present their own music for best effect.
