The concept is simple—McKenzie made this for a friend she lost—and the larger description is mundane: synth music in a roughly ambient style. But what McKenzie does here is no small feat, using repetition and echo and stacking to create a robust whole. This kind of music doesn’t usually have such finely turned melodies in its folds or such a magisterial sense of time.
