Zero

Released

On zero, cktrl continues to push the boundaries of what is considered classical music. While on his robyn EP cktrl went for a very minimal, stripped down feel, he adds some electronic layers to zero’s four tracks, which chronicle his return to love after heartbreak. It’s more focused than the abstract robyn, but still feels ethereal and serene. This is especially the case on the title track with r&b singer Mereba, which opens with fluttering clarinet before breaking down into dissonant beats, in stark contrast to Mereba’s silky smooth voice.
