Chelsea Wolfe sings the kind of torch songs used for burning down churches, or maybe capitalism. Inspired by everything from suicidal FoxConn employees to her own experiences with sleep paralysis, this doom folk masterpiece uses droning feedback, downtuned guitars, and industrial noise to augment the dour mood, but ultimately it all acts as a backdrop to Wolfe’s melancholy crooning and tortured moans. Not necessarily metal but heavy stuff indeed.
